Legal Definition
All counties in California have a superior court that can exercise general subject matter jurisdiction over civil matters that are not exclusively within the jurisdiction of another court. Within the superior court, there are 3 types of cases: (1) unlimited civil cases, (2) limited civil cases, and (3) small claims cases.
