What is the difference between a license and an easement?

Bar Exam Prep Real Property Easements What is the difference between a license and an easement?
😀 Real Property • Easements PROP#123

Legal Definition

While an easement is an interest in land, a license is merely a privilege. A license is personal to the licensee and inalienable. Any attempt to transfer a license results in revocation by operation of law.

Plain English Explanation

This may be getting redundant because we've had a few cards talk about the difference between easements and licenses, but it is super important that you have a clear understanding of them.

An easement carries the weight of the law behind it, while a license is just a permission slip that can be revoked at any point and can not be transferred to someone else.
