Real Property β’ Natural Rights
PROP#232
Legal Definition
Underground occupants of land are obligated to support the surface and any buildings that exist on it as of the date that the subterranean estate was created. For any buildings erected after that date, an underground occupant is only liable for damage caused by negligence.
Plain English Explanation
Subjacent support is the obligation to make sure that stuff built above the land you are digging out isn't damages. For example, if a mining company digs a large hole under a building, it needs to make sure the building doesn't cave-in to the mine.
